The Photographers Gallery

The Photographers Gallery came into existence in 1971 as the UK’s first ever public gallery dedicated to photography. Over the years it has continued to expand on its aim to promote the role of photography in society, helping to retain its position as a respected and significant art form.

It has housed exhibitions from renowned photographers such as Juergen Teller, Sebastião Salgado and Robert Capa, while always remaining a strong supporter of British artists. Each year they hold a competition open to everyone and anyone in possession of a camera, hoping to find a fresh new eye and bring their work to people’s awareness.
