The George Inn
The last remaining galleried inn to be found in London, The George Inn is a pub rich with character and steeped in history. It dates back to the medieval times and its importance has seen it become a Grade I listed building, leased by the National Trust. Those curious to find it and enjoy its food and drink can head on down to the south side of the River Thames, a stone’s throw way from London Bridge.
Venture inside and you will see a number of small, connected bars on the ground floor. The beautiful timber framing has seen its fair share of action of the years and the many marks and scars it bares reflect hundreds of years of life in London. It remains a popular haunt for local residents and office workers on a Friday, enjoying the rare ambience of the last remaining inn on Borough High St.
