Founded in 2012, Richard Saltoun gallery places an emphasis on post-war art, in particular conceptual, feminist and performance artists who came to the fore during the 70s. It serves as a platform to re-discover artists whose work was perhaps not given the promotion or recognition it deserved upon creation.
Artists such as Renate Bertlmann, Helen Chadwick, Jo Spence and John Hilliard have all had their work displayed and promoted over the years. Similarly, lesser known figures are given prominence if their experimental approach fits the remit of the gallery. The exhibition programme changes throughout the year, continually bringing visitors both highly regarded and little seen gems.
