Museum of Comedy

Some jokes are so old they belong in a museum and The Museum of Comedy will no doubt happily accept them in time. Strangely positioned underneath St George’s Church in Bloomsbury, it is the first museum of its kind in the UK. After spending many years working with some of the greats from British comedy, Martin Witts has managed to amass a vast array of items from some of the most well-known names in the trade.

Tommy Cooper’s handmade tricks are on display alongside the Two Ronnies’ glasses. A fantastic set of photographs capture the comics at work, including Barry Cryer, Johnny Vegas and Mark Thomas. There is even a 70 seater venue attached to the site that is used for a variety of events from rehearsals through to play readings.
