Museum of Brands Packaging and Advertising

Starting at 16 with a packet of Munchies, consumer historian Robert Opie launched himself on what has become one of the most unusual pilgrimages imaginable. From this point on, he fanatically collected the products he saw around him, from food packs and drinks’ posters to original adverts and toys. If you’ve ever felt nostalgia for a line discontinued in your youth, chances are you’ll find it here, among some 12,000 items on display. In the ‘time tunnel’ you’ll see household products and shopping basket staples morph from Victorian infancy to their jazzy modern day incarnations – telling the history of advertising and of some of the most iconic brands of the 20th century.
