Design Museum

Founded in 1989 by Sir Terence Conran, the Design Museum covers every aspect of design and architecture, also including the graphic and fashion industries. It has been located in its new Kensington location from 2016 and the main features of the museum’s permanent display can be found on the top-floor.

The first floor contains a resource library that is accessed by students, educators, designers, researchers and more. The ground floor is where visitors can find the many exhibitions that take place across the year, some of which require paid entry. The Design Museum is the only one solely devoted to architecture and design in the UK.

    Home Futures

    Until Sunday 24th March 2019

The Design Museum concludes 2018 with an exhibition about the idea of Home. A place where people engage with design in the most important aspects of their lives, homes are rapidly developing thanks to economic and technological forces. Unaffordable prices, the spread of connected devices and the sharing economy are further developing the concept of a home and this exhibition asks what is the future of our living spaces. From furniture to robotics and sharing economy to nomadic lifestyles, it will explore how our idea of domestic life is changing through a display of seminal design pieces and commissioned installations.
