City Hall is home to the London Assembly and the Mayor of London, who are part of the Greater London Authority (GLA). Renowned architect Norman Foster designed the building and it was opened in 2002, a few years after the position of Mayor of London had been re-established.
Members of the public who wish to visit the building can access certain areas during set times of the working week. The site offers fantastic views overlooking the River Thames, and the café on the lower ground floor is open to the public. On occasion, visitors can sit in the seating gallery in the Chamber if there is a public meeting in progress.
