After a group of artists came together to form The Cartoon Art Trust in 1988, with the aim of creating a museum dedicated to the preservation of British cartoon art, the Cartoon Museum opened its doors to the public in 2006. Visitors can enjoy three main galleries featuring original artwork from British cartoons and comics.
Over time everything from The Beano, Private Eye, Viz, William Heath Robinson and Steve Bell have had exhibitions of their work put on display. The permanent collection features works from artists such as Pont, Martin Rowson, Steve Bell along with classics from magazines and newspapers in the UK.
