ArcelorMittal Orbit

The largest sculpture in the UK, the ArcelorMittal Orbit quickly became the symbol for Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, built for the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Sir Anish Kapoor and engineer Cecil Balmond were the men responsible for designing the piece and it has continued to attract visitors from all over the world ever since.

The peak reveals views of up to 20 miles across London and is comprised of 35,000 bolts and 265 double-decker buses worth of steel, much of which is recycled from old cars and washing machines. It’s unique design has seen it become an iconic part of the London experience itself, and a representation of the transformation that has taken place in the surrounding area.
