Head Chef Gillan Kingstree is a man on a mission: curing his own meats; championing local independent food businesses; lovingly curating one of the largest selections of British cheese in the UK — in a world full of celebrity chefs, Gillan quietly goes about his business of making delicious food from the very best produce he can find from our scepter’d isle. From spiced beef, bacon jam and marmite bacon to Yorkshire rhubarb jelly for the afternoon tea (ruby red rare roast beef sandwiches included, warm fruit scones and Devonshire clotted cream), our chef celebrates and transforms the finest British regional produce into exquisite modern dishes that represent the best of Britain’s abundant food treasures. Open from 10am until 5:30pm every day (and until 8:30pm on Fridays), The National Dining Rooms is the perfect place for an indulgent and unhurried lunch. For brunch or a snack, our cosy café area is the place to grab a Peyton & Byrne tea or coffee and a freshly made British cake. For a more leisurely treat, drop by from 3pm for our famous National Afternoon Tea, a lavish spread of sandwiches, scones and cakes served with tea or champagne.
