Buckingham Palace and the Changing the Guard ceremony in the forecourt of the Palace form of Her Majesty The Queen, Buckingham Palace is the main venue for many colourful state occasions.
The State Rooms are open to the public for about 8 weeks during August and September each year. The Royal Mews and The Queen's Gallery are open year round. The gardens, covering about 40 acres, are used for summer garden parties when around 8000 people from all walks of life are invited to attend each garden party given by Her Majesty.
The Changing the Guard ceremony takes place in the forecourt of the Palace, usually daily from April through to the end of July. For the remainder of the year it takes place on alternate days.
