Kensington Palace
Kensington Palace has remained a residence of the Royal Family since 1689, and is the official London residence of several current members of the extended family. Since William III and Mary II chose the mansion as their country retreat, it has remained a place of escape for many a royal member, with Queen Victoria spending her childhood at the Palace, before moving into Buckingham Palace.
The State Rooms are open for public access, where visitors can enjoy the regal interiors and the extension built by Christopher Wren. Children can explore the site following clues to search and discover the seven princesses of Kensington. The gardens plays host to the Princess of Wales Memorial playground where kids can hop aboard the huge wooden pirate ship stationed there.
The King's State Apartments will be partially closed for important conservation work from 5 September to 17 December 2016.
The Orangery is open 7 days a week all year round, but occasionally closes for functions. Please check closure dates before your visit.
